Seeds contain botanical information, agricultural techniques, and ecological histories. But they also carry memories, beliefs, and cultural practices passed down orally or through ritual. In this way, they exist at the threshold between fact and imagination, photographic portrait and illustration.

Throughout the lifetime of the online seed archive, fictional stories written by contributing authors will be added to a selection of the seeds.
